Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, why it is used, and the limited circumstances in which it may be disclosed. By using Garfield County Criminal History, you consent to these privacy practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside company operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its result. Garfield County Criminal History does not log or retain those search terms on its own systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email or other direct message may be kept as long as needed to respond and maintain the exchange. It remains within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal duty.

Data We Gather Automatically

Standard technical information is recorded when a page loads, including:

  • Page-view times and the pages visited
  • Device type and operating system
  • IP address assigned to the device
  • Referring site, when available
  • Browser name and version
  • Approximate time spent on pages

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and analytics services help compile broad traffic patterns, such as popular pages and common exit points. Browser controls can block cookies, although doing so may change how some site features work.

What We Do With This Data

  • Diagnosing faults and maintaining reliable service
  • Routing a query to the selected search partner
  • Understanding which content is useful
  • Supporting site speed and operation
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Garfield County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to the Garfield County Sheriff's Office, Utah courts, the Bureau of Criminal Identification, and the Utah Sex, Kidnap, and Child Abuse Offender Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into third-party dossiers or consumer reports, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. Data entered there is governed by that provider's policy, retention rules, and disclosure practices rather than this policy. Review the provider's terms before sending a query because this site does not control its processing.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to Garfield County offices, Utah Courts, state agencies, legal resources, or private services. Once a visitor follows an outside link, the destination's privacy terms apply. Check those terms before disclosing personal information.

Advertising companies may use their own systems to follow activity across websites for targeted ads. That processing is controlled by those companies.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be shared with:

  • Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
  • Search partners processing a visitor's query
  • Advertising networks serving page content
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected data. No internet system is completely secure, however, so an unauthorized access event cannot be ruled out or guaranteed against.

Users Under 18

The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Data identified as belonging to a minor may be deleted after notice.

Your Data Rights

Rights may vary by residence and applicable law. GRAMA, Utah Code Title 63G, Chapter 2, governs access to Utah government records but does not turn this private site into a public agency. Utah Code §53-10-108 separately limits criminal-history dissemination. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:

  • Opt out of processing when the law provides that choice
  • Ask to correct inaccurate personal data
  • Request deletion where a legal exception does not apply
  • Ask for access to personal data held about them

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised as practices or legal duties change. A replacement becomes available on this page with its current effective date.
